課程概述

In order to ensure quality patient care, physical therapy service should be based on clinically relevant scientific evidences. The purpose of this course is to equip students with the ability to practice with the best available evidence.
This course is given to help students understand the methods for quantitative synthesis in medicine, including system review, meta-analysis, decision analysis and cost-effective analysis.

Patient-centered Evidence Based Practice model with emphasis on
1. Acquiring, appraising and integrating research evidence
2. Understand evidence levels including system review and/or meta-analysis
3. Advanced critical analysis and application of research of evidence;
4. Understanding the methods for quantitative synthesis in medicine, including decision analysis and cost-effective analysis
5 Analysis of cost and the integration of physical therapist practice into the national health care system; administration, budgeting and reimbursement for physical therapist services. 

課程目標
At the end of this semester, the students should be able to

1. Understand the scope and define the evidence-based physical therapy in health care system.(跨領域團隊合作Interdisciplinary collaboration and leadership與領導與國際觀Global vision)
2. Execute steps necessary to provide physical therapy service with bestevidences, including forming the questions, searching for evidences, conducting meta-analysis for systematic reviews, evaluate the evidence, etc.(創新與研究Innovation and invention)
3. Exercise evidence-based physical therapy from the aspects of diagnosis, outcome, therapy and harm.(專業與教學能力Professional and teaching skill,創新與研究Innovation and invention)
4. Understand the cost-effective analysis in medical(physical therapy) practice.(跨領域團隊合作與領導Interdisciplinary collaboration and leadership) 
課程要求
1. Book reading
For each chapter: 25 min/chapter report by students , 25 min discussion
2. Each group:
Mid-term meta-analysis proposal and registration
3. Final report: systemic review or meta-analysis final manuscript for discussion

Scoring:
1. Participation in class and book reading 30%(跨領域團隊合作與領導與人文關懷與服務倫理)
2. Report a proposal on meta-analysis, appraisal of articles of meta-analysis and cost-effective analysis (with power point file) 30%(專業與教學能力,創新與研究)
3. Final report and paper (systemic review or meta-analysis) 40%(跨領域團隊合作與領導與國際觀)
